Changing the engine oil

An oil change is the process of removing the used engine oil from the engine and replacing it with fresh, clean oil. The internal parts of the engine move at incredible speed, creating both friction and heat. Engine oil provides lubrication that allows parts to operate efficiently without overheating or seizing.

Over time, oil will degrade and become contaminated. As an engine runs, the oil will lose quality due to the effects of heat and pressure. These factors make the oil less slippery and less effective at lubricating engine parts. Oil loses its quality when the car is not used for a long time.

It is important to choose and change the oil according to the technical characteristics of the car. When choosing oil, it is more appropriate to follow the manual of the car or the recommendations of our experienced mechanics. In many new models, the weight of your car's motor oil is written on the cap where you add the oil or in the owner's manual.

Oil inside the engine:

  • Lubricates engine parts to prevent friction.
  • Protects engine parts from corrosion.
  • Ensures perfect engine compression.
  • Cleans dirt and places it in the oil filter.
  • Cools the engine and maintains its constant temperature.

Mechanics recommend checking the oil level in the car once a month, and during the oil check, make sure that the car is on a flat surface and the engine has cooled down. Engine oil should be changed according to its specifications. These indicators can be from 5000 km to 12000 km or more.

Many drivers measure engine oil change only by mileage, but there are other factors such as oil quality, the year of manufacture of the car and the way the car is driven.

Changing the oil and controlling it is one of the most important things you can do to prevent premature wear of the car engine. Having the correct oil level and quality will prevent excessive wear on your engine.
